"Planar Studies, colleagues, is the future of magic. Only twenty years ago, our craft was considered the scribblings of madmen. Today, it has risen to recognition as the most utilitarian discipline of the art. In those twenty short years, we've connected the entire world through leylines, put resources like holding bags and waypoints into the hands of common men, and unlocked the secrets of transcending time and space.
I look forward to joining you in our mutual quest to build the future of magic on the sound principles of reason, logic, and research. " - Xal Ezra , Senior Researcher for the Department of Planar Studies
The study of theoretical “mathemagic”. Planar Studies is built upon formulae and proofs so strong that they can alter the nature of reality and break its bounds. Planar Mages use magic to perform their calculations, but their formulas themselves operate on physical laws, rather than magic. The visible effects of Planar Formulae are the results of the formulae themselves, not magic.
- School of Planebinding – The study of the planes. Indines is at the center of many planes. To outsiders, it is known as the ‘Prime Plane’, because it rests at the center of a linear string of planes. Planebinders can utilize spatial formulae for teleportation, incorporeality, and traveling between worlds.
- School of Relativity – The study of natural properties. Relativity began as a discipline of quantifying physical attributes, such as mass, velocity, hardness, material, density, and more. Relativists can alter objects and people by selectively removing or altering their physical traits.
- School of Causality – The study of time. Mages who study in this school can divide possible futures from the state of the present, and drive the world towards desired outcomes through selection of divergent timelines.
